Question: Is it okay to tell a possible employer that the reason you left a company was because of mababang sahod?
I THINK YOU SHOULD EXPLAIN MORE
Saying the reason you left is mababang sahod will welcome many followup questions from the recruiter like:
- “If mababa ang sahod, bakit mo tinanggap ang trabaho?”
- “If mababa ang sahod, ano po ang sahod na sapat para sa iyo?”
- “How will you justify asking for a higher salary than what your ex employer paid you? Please cite reasons.”
I think instead of telling us na mababa ang sahod, period… tell us instead all the responsibilities you did and the things you accomplished in the past job that would enable me to discern that you should be paid more.
Kasi for many, I think they are worth their sahod. Hanggang diyan lang sila. However, a person who does many things, and have a terrific attitude will make me consider offering a larger sahod because I want that person to accept.
Because if I don’t, somebody else will.
So focus on what you can do, not how much you think you should be paid. Kami kasi magdedecide niyan, hindi ikaw. That way, we can gauge how much you should be paid.
