Despite a less than satisfactory company performance, I am happy to report that my boss has fairly compensated us for slaving ourselves to death last year.
First, I got a minor pay increase, but the fact that I have received one despite increasing worries of a recession is blessing enough. If it makes me feel better, not everybody got one.
And secondly, I have received a nice small bonus package to ensure I don’t live off sardines and salted eggs in 2008. He thanked me for a job well done, while I accordingly asked for heavier responsibilities and more training this year because I am getting a bit bored of my current job.
Maybe it’s just me, but do you guys start getting tired of your work after you do it for quite a while? I’ve been in my job for 15 months and counting, and despite the accolades I’ve been receiving so far for a job well done, I’m starting to feel a bit unchallenged because am already so used to my work…
Anyway, that’s the reason why I’d like to improve myself further so I can contribute even more. This helps my company, and myself as well. My friend teases me as this “sexy, ambitious woman” who knows where she’s going with her life. Little did he or anybody know that am not really as ambitious as everybody thinks; though I do believe that life is only worth living if you give it your very best shot.
So what keeps me busy nowadays?
Well, there’s the GMAT review which is slowly chugging along… hopefully, I’d get a lot more studying done when I visit Manila next week (Yay! Am going for a week!).
In addition, if I still have time, I would like to dabble more into financial modelling. I’ve already bought books by Joe Tjia, and Benninga. Let’s just hope that I still have the motivation to get going…
Anyway, gotta pack now for my upcoming trip home. I won’t have time in the next few days to do that so now would be the perfect time.
Wow, I just can’t believe it’s been a year since I saw my family last. It would be a good homecoming indeed.
Ciao and talk to you guys later!
