Okay, I admit it.
I get extremely jealous whenever I my friends/acquaintances tell me about their interesting adventures around the world.
From daring to hike up the snowy mountains of Tibet…
Going horseback riding in the acrid deserts of Mongolia for days…
Spending a whole month learning how to surf in Australia and enjoyed the flattering attention of blond hair and blue-eyed Aussie men with rock hard abs…
Traveling around the world for a year or two…
Rock climbing in Krabi…
Bungee jumping in New Zealand…
Climbing across the Sydney Harbor Bridge at dusk…
Trekking in Chiangmai and living with the locals…
Parachuting off an airplane in Brisbane…
Hang gliding in Taiwan and Indonesia…
Scuba diving in Puerto Rico, Palau and the Great Barrier Reefs…
Camping at Yosemite mountains and sleeping with black bears…
Staying at a Raj in Morroco…
Lived in Bali for a year to study Balinese dancing…
And more…!
I’ve come to realize from my friends’ stories that the world’s indeed so huge and there’s so much more left to experience!
Sure, they may have frozen their asses off…
Suffered sore butts for days…
Endured a bad suntan that left them peeling for months…
Depleted most of their savings…
Was cold, wet and hungry for long periods of time…
Got cuts, bruises and some nearly died…
But heck, when you think of all the memories that they’ve gathered that will last them for decades…
Imagine how much they’ll enjoy having the knowledge that they’ve wanted to do something and how got their butts off from the couch and actually did it…
And be able to boast when they’re old and frail that they’ve lived life to the fullest…
You can’t help but be jealous.
Yes, I admit it.
Hearing my friends’ relate to me their own interesting stories, I do get envious.
That despite living my life to the fullest right now, I humbly realize I still have much left to accomplish.
That the life I have right now can further be enriched.
However, it’s senseless having regrets of things that should’ve been.
Past is past.
Instead, we concentrate on what we can do later in the future.
Fact is, their stories fill me with hopes and ideas.
They motivate me into actually thinking what exactly I want to do, and how I plan to achieve them within the time I have left.
Baby steps, my friends… baby steps.
That’s why, I’m visiting Burma and climb atop untouched temples later this month, despite the constant dangers of a civil war.
I’m also going to climb the tallest building in the world — the Taipei 101 — this Sunday (And here’s for some embarrassing plugging: If you’re kind enough to pledge some money for charity, do contact me! NT$500, NT$1,000… I don’t care! This is for charity, people!).
And heck, if you’re up for Australia come this November or Egypt on the latter half of the year, do give me a call.
Yes, this is what living life to the fullest is all about.
It’s about doing it… one day, one week, one month, and one year at a time.
So how are you living your life to the full?
=================================
Last night, I had a great time whacking balls at the driving range! I think I had hit around 4 baskets of golfballs.
So interesting to see how such a teeny-tiny pingpong-sized ball can captivate adults like me but it does!
A lot of people I know are avid golfers.
It’s not just for Tiger Woods baby.
Don’t look at me — I love the game, but it’s only my 5th or 6th time out on the driving range.
But I can definitely see an addiction growing!
It’s amazing how you can tweak your body a bit and see a huge improvement on your game.
For example, last night, it was “move your hips baby… move those hips!” and my balls started sailing longer and higher.
Another revision was the position of my shoulder.
When I can see my left shoulder when I’m swinging, my aim goes straigher and my ball flies smoother.
Anyway, I was at putting on my game face last night; I couldn’t stop hitting cause I was having so much fun!
God, I can see that golf’s going to be a bigger part of my life.
Haha, any other avid golfers in the house here? And how many times do you hit balls?
For me, hope to do it at least once a week, so goodbye Mondays.
Yee-haaaa!
Till tomorrow!
