Our office Garfield

I have a colleague who looks exactly like Garfield:

But that’s just as much as I’ll say… the similarities are indeed striking.

I think the reason why people love Garfield is because he doesn’t care and does whatever he wants.

But another reason why people love Garfield is because we’re jealous — he dares to do things what other people don’t dare to do because they’re afraid they may lose face, lose their jobs, or they’re just plain scared.

Frankly, I’m one of them.

Sometimes, I’m too sick of acting too much of a nice, goody-two shoes.

Sometimes, I wish I could take off days from work and don’t have a care in the world.

Sometimes, I wish I can be mean and sullen and intentionally piss people off.

Sometimes, I wish I can be rude, and just shrug it off.

But I can’t — it’s not my nature.

In a way, that’s why I wanted to have this blog, so that I can be as mean as I want, even if I don’t mean it. Through the blog, you can exaggerate things as much as you want. It’s private, it’s yours and nobody gets hurt because you are anonymous.

But fact remains is, you’re really not. Laugh all you want, but there are still people who can see and read your blog. And judge you for what you say, even if you don’t mean it.

I wish I can be like Garfield… and not have a care in the world.

I can bitch and moan all I want… and don’t care.

But I can’t.

In the end, I still strive for positive reinforcement. I like to be liked.

And that’s why, I am jealous of our office Garfield.

Because like him or hate him, he’s just being himself.

C’est La Vie.
